Plastic Ban: 50,000 INR of Plastic Seized in Godavari Polymers Nagpur
Ever since the plastic was banned in the state from 2nd Oct 2019, we have been hearing about the news about recovering and seizing plastics from different places in the city. In the recent incident, the civic body, NMC has recovered a whopping 50,000 INR value of plastics from the premises of Godavari Polymers based at Kalmana Chikhali Road. These were the illegal stocking of 408 kgs of plastic bags that was worth 50k.
As per reports, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has been actively following up in the areas for this violation with its nuisance detection squad. This Tuesday when they got a report of the illegal stocking at the premises of Godavari Polymers, the stormed at the place to raid it. With this, they found out around 408 kg plastic carry bags that were worth Rs 50,000 at the said godown of Godavari Polymers located at Kalmana Chikhali Road.
The team acted on a tip-off and raided the location. Later, the owner of the group was prosecuted for owning the illegal plastic at his place despite the plastic ban in the country. They imposed a fine of around 5000 to the people responsible. Recently the previous government has banned the plastic under the GOI Swachh Bharat mission. Since then we have seen the NMC carrying out the various drives in an attempt to make Nagpur clean in terms of plastic usage. Since then the squad called the NDS has been active against the people who have been violating the same.
