Nagpur: All these three Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) – City, Sub East, and Rural – are yet to get the driving license candidates practiced on the machine. And have got 2 car driving simulators to help them test their driving skills even before they appear for the ground test.
Deputy regional transport offices officer Ravindra Bhuyar has said that on Monday all these six simulators were made operational in the respective regional transport offices. And the officers involved in conducting the driving tests were trained. Simulators will be provided free of cost to those appearing for the final driving test.
The cost of each of these machines is only about four and a half lakh rupees. Along with three offices, the state has provided simulators to about 47 other regional transport offices across Maharashtra at a cost of about Rs 3.30 crore.
Ravindra also said that these machines have been designed for various road conditions including heavy traffic mode, fog mode, night mode, ghat section, potholed road, reverse mode, and parking mode. It has elaborated that simulators can be used to prepare Permanent Driving License (PDL) seekers well-prepared to handle unexpected or safety-critical tasks. who may be unfit to practice on the road, Such as collision avoidance or risky driving.
Undergone training on operation of simulator
The official also said that there are no guidelines in any way to make simulators mandatory for permanent driving license fans. But sources have termed it as a waste of public money.
An Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector who has undergone training on the operation of the simulator, They have said that simulators provide opportunities for instruction and feedback that are not at all very easily obtained in real vehicles.
He has stated that it is only possible to reset, freeze, or replay a scenario. Another biggest advantage of this machine is that it has a feature that gives marks to the trainee based on their driving skills.
Transport Commissioner Avinash Dhakne has said that the candidates appearing for the final driving test can use the same machines to do these tests. That’s how much of them have improved after getting a learner’s license and going through driving school training.
