Nagpur: The city is heading towards its very poor performance in class 11th through (CAP) common admission process. As about 64% seats are still vacant and only one round of admission is left.

Some academics say that it is very unlikely that the final round. Officially called a special round, will be able to cover the deficit to a large extent.

A senior academic named Ravindra Fadnavis always raises questions on the futility of CAP in Nagpur city. Ravindra has said,

This year 2021 will set a dubious record as more than half the seats inside the city will remain vacant. Even after the final round and consolidation of multiple seats.

There is no way that they can secure more than 10 percentile. Hence, there will be no contenders this time around 50% to 55% seats in Nagpur city.

The general secretary of Vidarbha Junior College Teachers Association. Whose name is Ashok Gawankar. Ashok Gawankar has been a another outspoken critic of CAP.

And said The CET or CAP should be a conducted when there are a the more candidates and than there are seats on the offer. Moreover, it is well understood that admissions are made on the basis of merit. Every year in the Nagpur.

We see around the 20,000 seats going vacant and now this year 2021 it may even reach the record breaking numbers, so what’s the point of having CAP. CAP is mandatory for almost all state board affiliated junior colleges located within city limits.  And the state education department conducts CAP online in many urban centers like Pune, Mumbai etc.

Another academic, who did not wish to be identified, said. “The problem is quite clearly over-supply of seats in both urban and rural areas.

Because of the coaching classes now tie-up with the many students are coming to a junior colleges located outside of the Nagpur city.  And hence the pressure on all the colleges in the city is now reduced to a great extent.

Special round of the CAP will starts on the Saturday and will end on the September 25. The Education Department has said in an official note that “this may also be a final round”.
