Nagpur: A 27-year-old Maharashtra State Security Corporation security guard has reportedly lost his hearing ability after he was beaten up by a police sub-inspector of the State Reserve Police Force during rifle training.
Based on the complaint of the victim Poonam Khanve (27, a resident of Mendki village of Katol tehsil), the Hingna police has also registered a case against PSI Rupesh Lokhande and are now investigating further. And with this, the Hingna police also took about eight days to register the complaint. Senior Inspector of Police (Hingna PS) Vishal Kale could not be traced even after all the efforts.
Poonam Khanve also said in his complaint that he was posted as a security guard at Maharashtra State Security Corporation and his original posting was also in Mumbai. However, recently he was also sent on deputation to Majri area of Chandrapur district. Khanve was also asked to undergo a rifle training program at the State Reserve Police Force camp at Hingna between October 17 and October 22.
“During the training dated October 22, PSI Rupesh Lokhande allegedly started abusing me a lot and also accused me of missing the target,” Poonam Khanve has said in his FIR. He also claimed, “For no reason, the PSI hit me on both sides of my face and I started bleeding profusely from both ears.”
FIR was lodged by the Hingna police at 9 o’clock in the night
It was only after this that he got in touch with ENT surgeon Dr. Javed Khan in Nagpur. After this examination, the doctor also told him that both his ears were torn (damaged) due to the beating. “On the date of 28 October, I approached Hingna police to file a complaint against the PSI. But the police refused to register my report. Despite my repeated visits to the police station, he refused to budge,” he claimed.
Poonam Khanve had also contacted the then Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to get his complaint registered, And a cop from there also informed the Hingna police about his presence in the top cop’s office. “Very soon I also got a call from Hingna police station, but when I went there, they again resorted to evasive tactics to get my complaint against Lokhande. Even on the same day, my FIR was not registered.” They said.
On the date of 29 October, Khanve again visited the police station and after sitting for the whole day, the FIR was lodged by the Hingna police at nine o’clock in the night. And along with this, the police have also registered a case against Rupesh Lokhande of the State Reserve Police Force Hingna unit under section 325 of IPC.
