During my last conversation with IANS, Actress Katrina Kaif opens up about facing pay disparity in Bollywood. This is what the ‘Bang Bang’ actress has to say, “An actor, male or female, needs a lot to pay according to the budget, composition and set of the film. If you are paying any actor who is going to give you almost 90 percent guarantee of recovery of around Rs 150 crores. Then I can understand why, as a producer, they are paying them so much.”
While she stands to pay a very hefty amount of money to some actors by the producers themselves, Because he has proved his worth in recovering this money with his ‘X’ factor, She has also said that this is not the case at all in the case of women-oriented films. Actress Katrina Kaif has also said that “We haven’t seen enough movies like this at all so far that have given the producer a guarantee that ‘x’ amount can be paid to the actress.”
In the same conversation, the ‘Tiger’ actress has also suggested that it will be very good. If an actress decides a fee and then subsequently also contracts with a clause in which it is so passed, “If the film makes ‘x’ amount, then definitely pay me ‘y’ amount as well. If the film crosses Rs 100 crore, then you pay me Rs 20 crore… You state all these things very clearly in the contract so that both the actor and the producer are protected.”
