NMC Approves Big Plans for Nag River Rejuvenation
The city civic body often called NMC – Nagpur Municipal Corporation seems to have approved the project for cleaning and rejuvenating the city-based river called Nag River. The process of the rejuvenation of the National River Conservation Directorate or NRCD seems to have boosted the cost of the project. As per reports, the current cost of the cleaning project for the Nag River is not less than Rs 2,434 crore, while it has been boosted up to 65% earlier which went to Rs. 1,476.96 crore.
The reason why the cost of the rejuvenation project has been boosted up is due to the addition of new taxes that comes with the delay in the initiation of the project, which had kept the Nag river very much denser in terms of pollution. This boost in the cost was instantly initiated after the meeting with Mr. Nitin Gadkari the Union Minister for road transport and highways and the officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) took place.
The said meeting took place in Delhi and there the cost was increased for the above-said reason. The meeting also had the Municipal Commissioner of NMC Mr. Abhijeet Bangar. In the same meeting, the complete loan agreement between the Japanese and Indian Governments was carried out. As per reports, the sanctioned project was meant to rejuvenate the Nag River in not less than 5 years. The civic body now has good plans for beautifying the surroundings of the river.
