Anti-Encroachment Drive in City Gets too Much of Heat
As the civic body, NMC moves ahead with its Anti-Encroachment Drive in Nagpur, we see the political heat is soaring up. There seems to be a big debate between the Congress corporator Praful Gudadhe and Kamlesh Chaudhary opposite the Mayor Sandeep Joshi. The former claim that the encroachment drive carried out in city is unlawful and should stop while the city mayor is stubborn on continuing the same.
The last weekend witnessed the aggressive encroachment campaign against the fruit and vegetable vendors who set up their shops on the streets at areas like Jafar Nagar and Manewada. In the presence of NMC Commissioner Mr. Tukaram Mudhe the drive was implemented and the vendors were removed from the streets who blocked the roads. However, as he left for Mumbai, the vendors returned to the streets as the NMC discontinued their drive on the street.
The city mayor has chalked out a detailed program for our city for carrying out the encroachment in Nagpur. He along with the NMC Nuisance Detection Squad seemed to carry out the action thus removing the vegetable and fruit market. However, as the anti-encroachment drive came to a halt, the vendors were back on the streets. Only the Hanuman Nagar area witnessed the show, while the rest of the areas remained affected with no action taken on the streets. These include Jafar Nagar, Gukulpeth, Khamla, and others. Well, it seems that the anti-encroachment drive has become the victim of the stern politics between the two rival parties. So what do you think so?
