City Journalists Body felicitated chess prodigy Raunak Sadhwani
For the city chess prodigy Raunak Sahdwani, it is a gala time as he is being honored by different groups all across the city. One more name has been added in this as we see the city journalist body – Sports journalists’ Association of Nagpur usually known as SJAN has recently felicitated Nagpur’s chess prodigy – Raunak Sadhwani who emerges as the 65th Grandmaster from the country and first in Nagpur to gain this honor at such a tender age of 13 years and 9 months. He was honored at the Meet The Press Program, which was organised by the said group.
A handful of media was collected to cover the event and they even talked to Raunak about his achievement. While talking about the same he said that he loves to play against the strong contenders and enjoys the pressure as well. He further said that he was confident to become the GM in the international event – FIDE Grand Swiss chess Tournament held at Douglas ,Isle of Man –United Kingdom. He said his achievement gives a nice feeling making him fulfill the dreams of his parents. He further added that he got the opportunity to work with top players of the world in the tournament.
He said he used to acquire the knowledge about his opponent. While getting an entry in this tournament was not that easy for him but thanks to the wild card entry, he could manage to get into the tournament since he has remained the top players from India. When talked about his next goal, Raunak was seen securing his final GM norm and also crossing the ratings of 2500. He then said he would now focus to gain 2600 ratings and then to the next. He said he wants to go steady. Raunak has been trained by his parents and it would be a costly affair.
