Commerce graduate turns bike thief, pawns them to throw parties

The police have also said that about 15 cases have been registered against Rishabh Asopa in various police stations.

Nagpur: Rishabh Asopa, a 28-year-old commerce graduate belonging to the family of a businessman, was arrested by the Sitabuldi police on Wednesday for stealing a bike from different parts of the city. Police officers have recovered about 12 bikes from Rishabh Asopa, Who used to mortgage them to have a party with his rich friends.

The police have also said that about 15 cases have been registered against Rishabh Asopa in various police stations. It is also learned that he had contacted many of his contacts to mortgage the bike, Also claiming that they are his own, as he was in dire need of urgent money for his father’s cancer treatment. Asopa will accept whatever was offered against the mortgage, from around Rs 4,000-5,000 to Rs 10,000.

He would never come back at all to get the bike back, or to answer calls from people he had cheated on.

Sitabuldi police have also said that Asopa is also indulging in illicit relations with the wife of a co-accused, for which he was in need of money on a regular basis and also liberally molested her.

Said a cop who was part of the investigation, Asopa’s elder brother also does a hardware business, Which his elder brother operates from Gujarat. And it also seems that Rishabh Asopa started stealing the bike because he was in dire need of money to party with her friends who were from a rich background,

Also, Asopa has been caught after one of those people, To whom he had mortgaged a stolen bike, The police of Sitabuldi have been exposed to his methods, Who were already looking for him. He was trapped near Manas Chowk by the Sitabuldi police team of Assistant PI Santosh Kadam, constables Pravin Wakode, sub-inspector Kailash Magar, head constable Jaipal Rathod, and others under inspector Amol Kachore.

The police have also said that Asopa was a drug addict in the past, but her family had helped her a lot in her rehabilitation. A cop has also said that during the investigation, Rishabh Asopa has admitted to thefts in Tehsil, Kotwali, Jaripatka, Ganeshpeth, Lakadganj, and other areas.

Rishabh Asopa was a very experienced bike thief, and he also had a variety of master keys. Since master keys work very well on very old Activa and Deo scooters, Because of this, he mostly used to steal such vehicles from different places. Rishabh Asopa used to search for vehicles parked on the streets, whether in front of one’s house or in the parking lot.
