Traffic police will intensify campaign against those sitting behind without helmet

Joint Commissioner of Police Aswati Dorje has said that there is already a law that makes wearing of helmet completely mandatory for those sitting behind.

Nagpur: The traffic police of Nagpur are now fully prepared to intensify the campaign against those who sit behind without any helmet. It was only after the direction of the Supreme Court Road Safety Committee that the decision was taken to make the helmet law applicable to both rider and rear riders across the country.

Joint Commissioner of Police Aswati Dorje has said that there is already a law that makes wearing of helmet completely mandatory for those sitting behind. Offenders can also be fined about 500 rupees and their driving license can also be completely suspended for a period of about three months.

The Committee has also observed that in cases where the law relating to these helmets is completely violated by the rider or pillar rider. Both of them should be subjected to road safety education and counseling at least two hours before the levy of a fine as prescribed under the MV Act.

Nagpur Traffic Police has held a meeting

The Mumbai Traffic Police has given around 15 days to implement the mandatory helmet rule for the people sitting behind. Along with this, it has also warned that if the rear rider is found riding without ahead. Then a fine will be imposed from the date of June 9.

Joint CP has said that “Nagpur Traffic Police has held a meeting with the teachers in this regard.”

In the last, almost four months alone, the city traffic police in about 10 areas have punished more than 2.24 lakh people for driving without a helmet or riding backward.

DCP Sarang Awad has said that the traffic police is also going to run a campaign against the riders on the triple seat. And along with this, a fine of one thousand rupees will also be imposed on the violators.
