Nagpur Municipal Corporation discontinues feeder bus service on 5 Metro Rail routes

Nagpur: Due to very poor response from commuters, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has recently started Metro Rail to provide last-mile connectivity on five routes. Aapli bus feeder service has been completely stopped. Also at present, it is operating feeder buses for Metro Rail on about 10 routes.

A senior official of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s transport department has also said that the feeder bus service routes used to earn less than Rs 5 per kilometer. Aapli Bus Program Manager – DIMTS Limited – is studying the feeder bus service routes based on various factors like fares, timings, etc. to improve the revenue of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The official has also said that the service of the feeder buses has been completely stopped on other metro routes including Panchsheel Chowk to Indorama Gate, Pipla Phata to Hazaripahar, and Panchsheel Chowk to CRPF.

The official said that many times the buses on these routes become almost empty. Even after the poor response, Nagpur Municipal Corporation stopped the service completely.

Employees have responded by adopting the Metro

Meanwhile, in its endeavor to maximize the reach of Mahametro, HCL Technologies has started the feeder bus service to MIHAN. Right now the employees of HCL can also commute between their company and Khapri Metro Station very easily.

The services started in collaboration with Nagpur Municipal Corporation will be available from morning till evening. Along with bus service, e-cycle, cycle, e-bike, and e-rickshaw will be available for commuting.

He has said that according to Mahametro, HCL Technologies had also sought help from its unit in starting the services. After a very long ‘work from home’ period due to Coronavirus restrictions, Many employees have just started working from the office once again. The proximity of the HCL office to Khapri Metro Station makes it almost an ideal boarding location. Maha Metro officials have also said that they are encouraging the employees to travel by metro rail too much. Employees have also responded by adopting the Metro as the only mode of transport for Mihan.
