As news of Suresh Raina’s sudden and shocking exit from IPL 2020 citing personal reasons were making the rounds, it seems like the actual reason behind Chennai Super Kings’ batsman’s decision is finally out and is very tragic.
As per media reports, cricketer’s uncle has been killed in a sudden midnight attack in their Pathankot’s Thariyal village house while his aunt is in critical condition. The attack was reportedly carried out in the wee hours of the night on August 19 when the family was sleeping on the terrace of their house. The identity of the miscreants, however, is still unknown but as per the report, the assailant had used lethal weapons to attack.
The media report read, “It is being said that Asha Devi, sister of Raina’s father is fighting for her life in the hospital, while his uncle, identified as 58-year-old Ashok Kumar died in the attack. His cousins – 32-year-old Kaushal Kumar and 24-year-old Apin Kumar also sustained injuries in the attack. Deceased Ashok Kumar’s 80-year-old mother also sustained serious injuries in the attack.”
“Meanwhile, the police have paced their investigation after getting to know that the victims are the close relatives of Suresh Raina. A team of police and forensic experts have collected evidence from the spot. The police also took help from the dog squad to identify the attackers but failed to get any clue,” the report further added.
For uninitiated, the cricketer had opted out from the IPL 2020 on Friday citing personal reasons while the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management has officially informed everyone that Raina will be returning to India due to personal reasons on Saturday.
