After peaceful polling at 22 centers of all the three districts on Friday, in which about 98.3% polling has been registered, It was not at all clear where the inclination of the organization led by Prakash Ambedkar was. Out of a total of 822 voters, 808 have voted. It was perfectly clear that the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi representatives participated in the voting.

With its nearly 86 voters, it could also help Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vasant Khandelwal create the biggest mess in the constituency by defeating Shiv Sena’s MLC Gopikishan Bajoria thrice. But even with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi votes, the saffron camp will need the support of independents to reach the halfway mark of about 412 votes, On paper, the Bharatiya Janata Party has only about 246 votes, which is well behind the halfway mark.

On the other hand the Shiv Sena MLC is much stronger on paper even with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) having more than 400 votes. In which along with him NCP and Congress are also included.

Potential for major upset

Ambedkar has absolutely refused to tell which side his party is leaning towards. He has also told that we have given freedom to our own representatives to vote according to their own choice. And we have not at all prevented anyone from exercising their franchise or asked to vote for a particular party at all.

Poll analysts, however, have also claimed that if Union minister Nitin Gadkari seeks Ambedkar’s support, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi may go with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since Khandelwal, a bullion trader and also close to Gadkari. Because of this, there is also the possibility of a lot of trouble.

Because Bharatiya Janata Party stalwarts are well-experienced in similar tactics and are known to cross party lines and help their own friends.

Bharatiya Janata Party party workers have confirmed that they were also in touch with top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Ambedkar’s area. It was also speculated long ago that the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi would stay away from the voting process as it was a rival to both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Akola Parishad.

The suspense will open only after the counting of votes on Monday.
