Yavatmal: After canceling the license of Babaji Datey Mahila Sahakari Bank, the liquidator has started the process of inviting claim applications from all depositors from Thursday, November 16.
The notice issued by liquidator Nanasaheb Chavan states, ‘Only applications received by the date of January 16, 2023 will be considered.’
The total outstanding amount including interest against about 1,013 loan defaulters would be Rs 475 crore. There are about 36,560 account holders and depositors of this bank, who are yet to be repaid Rs 185 crore.
Nanasaheb Chavan has said that we have started the process of loan recovery. And along with this action will be taken against the defaulter borrowers first. “If the loan amount cannot be recovered from them, then the guarantors will also have to face recovery action,” Nanasaheb Chavan said.
Awadhootwadi police have registered an FIR against the directors,
The bank has about 19 branches in the districts of Wardha, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Amravati, and Nagpur, out of which about 15 are in Yavatmal alone. There are 203 permanent and 12 temporary employees which will be reduced in a phased manner. Along with this, the bank also has four properties/offices of its own, which will be auctioned later.
The workers, mostly women, are staring at a bleak future right now. Since most of them are past the working age, it is becoming very difficult for them to find jobs elsewhere.
A female employee also said, ‘We have not done anything wrong at all. We have worked honestly for so many years. No action has been taken against those who are guilty. On the contrary, we are facing huge losses including our jobs.”
However, even after instructions from JMFC, the Awadhootwadi police have registered an FIR against the directors, office bearers, and CEO, But so far no arrest has been made in any way.
