MAHA Metro Approaches HC on Road Construction in city via Bharat Van
The Maha Metro is back in the news as we see them approaching the High Court for the road construction issue. The Metro body has approached the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court stating that the road remains the long term solution, which was supposed to be constructed way back in 2000 itself. Earlier, the affidavit was seen getting submitted for the road construction that remains the key project of Futala lake redevelopment of its ancillary project.
The concerned department authorities have embarked upon the construction of the plan along with the redevelopment project to get an easy funding, alleged activists. The affidavit states that Maha Metro has claimed that the road is around 750 meters away from Futala Lake and it does not come under the catchment area, which will not be going to harm the water body as well.
As per the activists protesting the construction of the road, he said the road will hamper the lakes that common areas that are classified as grade 1 structure in the city’s heritage list. The Maha Metro has then assured that the minimum environmental damages would be fixed only during the construction as it intends to transplant the trees using the latest scientific methods.
